Community Projects

The Spokane Branch AAUW ‘s Community Projects Fund was started in 1987 was held and invested by the Inland Northwest Community Foundation (INWCF). For the first 28 years, the return on investment was used to fund several mini-grants of up to $500. The recipients were local non-profit groups in the Spokane area that promoted the AAUW mission of advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.

In 2015 the membership voted to convert the fund held by the Inland Northwest Community Foundation, now known as Innovia Foundation, into a Donor Advised Fund. This allows the Spokane Branch AAUW to specify one community agency for our annual Community Project Award. Innovia Foundation certifies that the chosen agency is accredited and ensures accountability of the funds.
